What is WLEP?
“The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP) is responsible for creating and delivering economic growth and jobs across Worcestershire. This is achieved through a partnership approach with businesses, local Government, the third sector and higher and further education. The Worcestershire LEP is helping to deliver the Strategic Economic Plan and Local Industrial Strategy for the county to achieve our objectives of:
- Creating 25,000 jobs
- Increase Gross Value Added (GVA) by £2.9bn
- Contribute towards the delivery of 21,500 new homes by 2025.”
What support can they provide to apprentices?
The Worcestershire LEP helps to support apprentices by helping to promote the benefits of apprenticeships to employers and young people. This is achieved through delivering the Worcestershire Apprenticeships programme with the County Council which works directly with schools, training providers and employers to highlight the vacancies available in Worcestershire and the support programmes on offer to help businesses hire apprentices.
Why should someone consider becoming an apprentice?
“Apprenticeships offer the chance to learn academic qualifications whilst being on the job and gaining valuable working experience. Apprentices can progress from Level 2 all the way to Masters standard depending on the apprenticeship standard. Apprenticeships are a good way to start a career with many local former apprentices now being in leading positions. “
